Dr. Hisanaga was born and raised in Pearl City. He played an important role in expanding Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital, helping it to become the largest locally owned pet hospital in the state. Dr. Hisanaga is the President of Pet Hospitals of Hawaii, which includes Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital, Wahiawa Pet Hospital, and Makai Pet Hospital. Dr. Hisanaga and his wife have two sons, one daughter, seven dogs, and lots of fish.

Dr. Morikami was born and raised in Windward Oahu, went to Castle High School and UH Manoa. While earning her veterinary degree from Washington State University, she also studied at UC Davis and the Wildlife Center of Virginia. She treats a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents and reptiles.

Dr. Constantaras grew up in Germany, Maryland and Japan. She then attended the University of Illinois, where she earned her undergraduate and concurrent MS and DVM degrees. After practicing for five years in Chicago, she completed a three-year residency in dentistry and oral surgery at Fox Valley Veterinary Dentistry and Surgery. In 2015 she formed Ohana Veterinary Dentistry and joined forces with Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital to provide specialty dentistry services to pets in Hawaii. Dr. Constantaras decided to specialize in dentistry because treatment of oral pain has such an enormous impact on a pet's health and quality of life. She strives for a holistic approach to oral health and patient care that incorporates the highest standards of treatment.

Dr. Nashiro showed her interest in animals at a young age. While attending McKinley High School, she volunteered at the Hawaiian Humane Society, Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. After graduating from UH Manoa, she received her veterinary medicine degree from Colorado State University. She believes in integrating Eastern and Western medicine into her treatment of pets.

Dr. Nagamine graduated from Moanalua High School and attended UH Manoa, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences. She earned her veterinary medicine degree from Washington State University, and returned to Oahu to practice. She loves meeting new people and their beloved family members (pets). And she remains a die-hard UH football and volleyball fan.

Born on the Big Island, Dr. Watanabe attended Hilo High. While an undergraduate at UC Davis, he worked at the primate center as a researcher and also volunteered at the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. From there, Dr. Watanabe earned his veterinary medicine degree at Colorado State University. As a practicing veterinarian, his goal is to help his clients’ pets live healthier and longer lives.

Dr. Achiu was born and raised in Colorado and received both her bachelor and DVM degrees from Colorado State University. She moved to Hawaii in 2010 and promotes preventative medicine to help pets share happy, healthy and long lives with their owners.

Dr. Yamasaki grew up in Pearl City and graduated from Mid-Pac. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis. During vet school, she furthered her studies abroad, learning conservation medicine in South Africa and acupuncture in Beijing. After earning her DVM degree from Kansas State, she interned in New York before returning home. She’s been practicing at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital since 2014.

Dr. Zia was born in Germany but grew up in Kailua. She graduated from Punahou School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at UH Manoa. She attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her final clinical year at UC Davis.

Dr. Teale Thornburg was born and raised on the island of Oahu and attended Pearl City High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at UH, then completed her DVM at Colorado State University, where she trained in veterinary acupuncture through CuraCore. After receiving her DVM, Dr. Thornburg returned to Hawaii and began her veterinary career at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital in 2017. Dr. Thornburg’s special interests include alternative medicine (such as acupuncture), preventive medicine, dermatology, and exotic pets. Her love for exotic pets stemmed from many years of owning tropical fish.

Dr. Pesqué was born in France, but grew up in California, Arizona, and Washington state. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he earned two Bachelor degrees in evolutionary biology and psychology. After graduation, he worked as a technician at an emergency veterinary hospital and also conducted field research on Gila monsters in Saguaro National Park. He then earned his DVM degree at the UC Davis where he spent his elective time at shelter clinics and wildlife rehabilitation centers across the United States. After graduation, he completed an avian internship at The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota. It was Dr. Pesqué’s dream to live in Hawaii while working in exotic and small animal general practice medicine. When he’s not at home with his cat, Martin, he spends his time surfing, hiking, and exploring the island.

Dr. Martin grew up in Windward Oahu, Florida and Japan. She earned her BS degree at Florida State University, then returned to Oahu and worked as a veterinary tech for several years in Pearl City. She studied at Ross University School of Medicine in St. Kitts and completed her final clinical year at Texas A&M before joining the staff at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital. Dr. Martin has a soft spot for cats, but can treat many other furry pets.

Dr. Graas was born and raised in Saskatchewan and Alberta, Canada. He attended Hawaii Pacific University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. He also worked as an aquarist at Sea Life Park Hawaii. Dr. Graas received a Master of Science in Animal Science from the University of British Columbia and his DVM from Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada. Dr. Graas specializes in small animal medicine and still retains a deep interest in saltwater aquariums.

DR. DUBREUIL WAS BORN AND RAISED IN ALBERTA, CANADA. HE ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA TO STUDY WILDLIFE CONSERVATION AND ECOLOGY BEFORE RETURNING TO ALBERTA TO OBTAIN HIS VETERINARY DEGREE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY. DR. DUBREUIL IS EXCITED TO JOIN THE WAIPAHU WAIKELE PET HOSPITAL TEAM!

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN HAWAII AND GREW UP IN MILILANI. I GRADUATED FROM MILILANI HIGH SCHOOL AND OBTAINED BY BACHELOR OF ARTS IN BIOLOGY FROM UH MANOA. I WORKED AS A VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST AND ASSISTANT IN HONOLULU PRIOR TO ATTENDING UC DAVIS SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE. I ENJOY MAKING CONNECTIONS WITH PEOPLE AND THEIR ANIMALS.
